George Maurer Group to be Featured Saturday, June 25 on Pioneer Public Television Summer Music Series
Friday June 24th, 2011
Tune in to Pioneer Public Television this Saturday evening, June 25 to view a great show featuring G. L. Berg artist The George Maurer Group. The George Maurer Group is a great representation of a Minnesota music original, and Saturday night’s program will feature video shot on location at The Dakota Jazz Club and Restaurant, a facility that is a favorite among some of the most talented jazz musicians and one that has received praise from national publications such as the New York Times, USA Today, Esquire, Gourmet, Time, Downbeat, Fortune, Money, and The Wall Street Journal.
Pioneer Public Television is featuring local and regional musicians in concert this summer on “Pioneer Presents,” a locally-produced music series to air on Saturday evenings throughout the summer beginning June 11.
“We are excited to bring viewers this new music series,” said Les Heen, Pioneer Public Television president and general manager. “We know there is a great deal of musical talent in our area and ‘Pioneer Presents’ will feature a wide variety of musical styles.”
Indeed, variety is the word that best describes this concert series, with 30-minute performances ranging from a full concert band (Minnesota Army National Guard Band) to 17-year old singer/songwriter Carrie Sorensen from Detroit Lakes. Viewers can tune in to “Pioneer Presents” at 9:30 p.m. on Saturdays beginning June 11, and then enjoy more music with the popular national music program “Austin City Limits” which immediately follows at 10:00 p.m.
The programs will be rebroadcast each Monday at 1:30 p.m. beginning June 12. The series will repeat on Saturday nights throughout the summer. Once the programs are first broadcast on Pioneer Public Television they will be made available for viewing anytime on the Internet at http://www.pioneer.org/pioneerpresents.php.
This project was funded in part by the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund with money from the vote of the people of Minnesota on November 4, 2008.
With studios in Appleton, Minn., Pioneer Public Television is the PBS affiliate serving western and southwestern Minnesota, southeastern South Dakota and northwestern Iowa. Pioneer Public Television broadcasts to an audience of 110,000 households with an approximate population of 500,000.
Thanks to Eric Olson and all the great folks at Pioneer Public TV for making great Minnesota talent accessible to all of us this summer!
