Reviews
“Extraordinary! Equal parts, top grade entertainment and messages of substance, one of the best keynoters we’ve ever had.”
–Lakeshore Wellness Conference
“The clarity of his message, packaged in powerful musical poetry, touches listeners in a way no other medium can.”
–Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, Division of Parks and Recreation
“This Minnesota wilderness guide writes music, books and essays, sings, plays guitar, banjo, violin and piano, and teaches about the environment. Shaping this multi-faceted life is his profound love and respect for nature. His EarthSongs are in turn poetic, jaunty, humorous and thoughtful; his best selling Old Turtle is an eloquent parable for adults and children, deceptively simple, about reverence for the earth and all its creatures – including humankind.”
–Los Angeles Times
“Doug talked, sang, and charmed his way into our hearts. We want him back!”
–Texas All Well Conference
“Douglas Wood has a special gift that sparks a light in people’s eyes, whether they are young, old, or anywhere in between.”
–A college student

Douglas Wood – New York Times Best-Selling Author and Musician
Douglas Wood leads a life that is inspirational. He is a master of following his dreams. He has a story to tell and he is passionate about telling it. Whether he is writing books, composing music, guiding wilderness trips, speaking, or performing, his purpose is clear: to capture in words and music the meanings of the natural environment, to gently guide his audience into the hidden heart of the wilderness, and perhaps into their own hearts as well.
His talents don’t end with writing, however. As an inspiring keynote speaker and a musician who both composes and performs music, his work reflects his respect for the environment and the raw connectedness between nature and our lives. In performances and speaking engagements around the world, Doug touches and inspires all audiences with a superb blend of storytelling, musicianship, warmth and humor, and the rare ability to lift the human spirit.
Doug found the awesome beauty of Minnesota’s north woods and Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness to be his personal guide, but his message is universal. Through his engaging approach to story-telling, he inspires us to listen…to stop…to become silent…to pay attention — so that we may speak not only with our voice, but with our lives. His message is a touchstone to remind us that underneath it all we all share a common spirit, and that if we get out of our own way, our own human life may become a force of nature, too.
