Matt Fugate has spent his entire adult life (and most of his childhood, really) developing and honing his particular brand of wry wit, incisive observations, and polished-yet-genuine stage presence. As a matter of fact, you could say the secret ingredient of his comedy is love. You could say that, but given that you would be mocked unmercifully for it, you probably shouldn’t. Matt has appeared on the Bob and Tom radio and television shows, and cuts from his CDs, Big World of Me, and Believement can be heard on satellite radio and streaming services wherever your technology allows.
Matt was born in Clinton, IA, but spent most of his youth in LaCrosse, WI. He came to the Twin Cities to attend the University of Minnesota, where, still believing what his high school guidance counselor told him about the value of a broad-based liberal arts education, he received a B.A. in English Language Literature. It was during those college years when he caught the stand-up comedy bug. He has gleefully resisted any cure for this bug for nearly twenty years. For ten of those years, Matt straddled between the worlds of stand-up comedy and Corporate America. Since committing to his stand-up career, Matt has established himself as a favorite at Twin Cities comedy clubs like ACME Comedy Company and the Joke Joint, not to mention various other comedy clubs across the country. Matt’s talents extend to writing and performing a one-man show for the Twin Cities Fringe Festival, co-creating the spoof web site AlliedChemical.com, and writing a quarterly humor column for LarsonAllen’s EFFECT Magazine. He is also an accomplished voice-over talent, having recorded commercials and industrials for clients such as Miracle Ear, Target, and the Detroit Pistons. Matt has also appeared on the Bob and Tom Show on radio and cuts from his CD Big World of Me have been added to the playlists of both Sirius Satellite Radio and KHAHA.com. Matt is married and is the proud father of a teenage son and two young daughters.
