Scott Novotny Stand-Up Comedian Scott Novotny recently celebrated his 30th anniversary of being a full-time professional stand-up comedian. Over that time, Scott has had people laughing from coast to coast with his clean, non-offensive, very funny observations and humor. Armed with only great comedy material, a wonderful sense of timing, and some physical comedy that is sure to make you laugh, Scott gets the job done. “Audience members are always coming up to me after my show and telling me ‘We haven’t laughed that hard in years! He attended Gustavus Adolphus College in St. Peter, MN where he double-majored in Theatre/Speech and English. He taught Junior High English, was Theatre Director at Dassel-Cokato High School for two years, and has headlined for over 300 comedy clubs including The Comedy Store in LA, Funny Bones, and Sarasota Comedy Club. Scott has written for HBO, Dudley Rigg’s Brave New Workshop, TV commercials, two children’s plays, Strange Brew daily comic strip, and Saturday Night Live. He has appeared on MTV’s Half Hour Comedy Hour, TV commercials including Best Buy, Lava Soap, Coors Beer, and Land O’ Lakes, and America’s Funniest People. Scott owned and operated The Comedy Cabaret, Minnesota’s first stand-up/variety comedy club and released a comedy CD entitled Monu-Mental in 2005. Scott teaches classes in stand-up comedy and improvisation and is currently working on a motivational speech as well as working on teaching a class in Comedy Therapy. He loves teaching new students the art of comedy and improvisation, and lives by the Greek definition of comedy, which is “life with hope”. With that in mind, it is important that the audience can see him. For groups larger than 80, a raised platform stage is recommended. A 12 to 24 inch raised stage is recommended, with a minimum of 12 feet wide by 8 feet deep. The stage should be set as close to the audience as possible with care taken to keep seating in front of the stage as much as possible. Two standard electrical outlets near the stage are required. If a podium is used as part of the event, it is important that the podium is removed prior to Steve's introduction. Ceiling height is rarely an obstacle. If Steve can stand up straight, he can do a show!
