- George Maurer Trio | G.L. Berg Entertainment
Jazz George Maurer Trio Jazz Download Media Kit [object Object] Three instruments and the musicians who play them. That's all you really need to stage an evening of fun with the George Maurer Trio. The George Maurer Trio knows how to jazz up a small space with a big sound - or a not-so-big sound, if that's what the occasion calls for. These experienced musicians are versatile, adaptable and utterly unflappable. The trio adds a bit of class to any venue and puts their jazz-infused touch on virtually every musical style, with George's piano leading the way. They're at their best covering American swing and pop but are happy to have their way with everything from Gershwin to the Beatles. Adept at making themselves comfortable in unique performance settings, they have gigged on the swaying decks of riverboats and in steamy park band shells, held down big concert halls and tucked themselves into ballroom corners at wedding receptions. Regardless, they'll perform with ease, style and smiles. >> Career Highlights George Maurer is best known as one of Minnesota's premier jazz pianists, but his musical collaborations have taken him around the globe as a performer, arranger and composer. He has shared the stage with Eric Clapton, arranged music for the Chiffons and written two original scores for the Saint Paul City Ballet. George put his skills to work in spring 2011 as he worked on the world-class Minnesota Orchestra's "'80s Rewind!" show co-arranging four songs, leading the band, directing the vocalists and playing keyboards for shows at Minneapolis's Orchestra Hall and with the Florida Symphony. His repertoire includes indie movie soundtracks, 15 CDs, arrangements for everyone from gospel choirs to rock icons and an always-full itinerary of George Maurer Trio, Group and Variety Group performances. He has developed a well-traveled pop side gigging around the country with bands like the Crickets and pop star Bobby Vee. He music directed, arranged and performed at a Buddy Holly tribute at the House of Blues on L.A.'s Sunset Strip, where he worked with rock legends like Clapton. No stranger to the theatrical stage, George has performed and music directed a long list of shows, including "RENT" and the Chanhassen Dinner Theaters' "Altar Boyz" and "Swing!" Armed with an uncanny ability to interpret, arrange for, and produce and perform numerous musical styles, from traditional jazz to bebop, classic to modern rock, to country and beyond, George is called upon often to be a hired gun for numerous recording and theatrical ventures. >> Testimonials "One of Central Minnesota's sparkling contributions to the arts." -Dale Connelly/Jim Ed Poole/ MPR's The Morning Program "Jazz beyond suburbia...and then way out..." -Leigh Kamman, host of The Jazz Image on Minnesota Public Radio "The George Maurer Group has a refreshing energy to their performances with an irreverent style and sly musical humor." -The Dakota Bar & Grill, St. Paul "The diverse backgrounds of all these players make for a concert experience that's pure entertainment." -Jazz88FM (KBEM), Minneapolis >> Basic Set-Up Needs The technical needs for this artist vary depending on the type of show and presentation space. The object of the game is to draw cards that add up to 21 or as close as possible without going over (bust). A blackjack is an Ace and any 10 value card on the first two cards dealt. Face cards are 10, Aces are 1 or 11, and all other cards are face value. You are able to split a natural pair and double down on 10 or 11. Baccarat The object is to wager on either the bank or the player. You, as a player, will never touch the cards or have an option of taking more cards. The dealer uses a shoe containing 8 decks of cards. The dealer pulls out 4 cards; 2 for the player, 2 for the banker. The object is to reach 9 or as close as possible. All 10 value cards equal zero. Red Dog A fast-paced game often called “Acey Deuccy” or “In Between.” To play, you simply place a bet on the betting square. The dealer will then deal two cards face up. The object is to have the third card fall in between the first two cards. If this happens you will win even money. Beat The Dealer Everyone can be involved in this game. Players place a bet before the game begins. The dealer has two dice that he/she rolls. If a 2 or 3 is rolled, all the players win. If a 12 is rolled all the players lose. If a 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, or 11 is rolled, that becomes the point that each player has to try to beat by rolling the dice and getting a higher number than the dealer had. The odds pay even money or 2:1 if you roll doubles. Texas Hold’Em The dealer deals each player two cards face down, then deals five cards face down in the center of the table (used by all players). The players bet after seeing their two cards. The dealer will reveal three of the five center cards, and then the players may bet again. The dealer will reveal the other two cards with time for the players to bet in between. The winner is the player with the best five card poker hand. Let It Ride Poker game. Each person is dealt five cards. There are a series of three rounds and with each round the ability to switch out two cards. Chuck-A-Luck There are three dice involved that are in an hourglass-shaped cage. The players place bets on the table layout. The dealer flips the cage over and calls out the total of the dice. Payouts are determined based on the results of the dice. Pai Gow Poker The dealer will deal 7 cards to each player. The player’s object is to make the best two-card poker hand and the best five-card poker hand from the cards dealt. You must beat both of the dealer’s hands to win even money and one to tie or push. >> Career Highlights >> Testimonials "I just wanted to reach out and say thank you for helping plan and execute a successful “casino-night” at our Holiday Party!
